Capturing Moments: My appreciation and joy for Photography and Fashion
Photography has always been a part of my journey, a way to capture fleeting moments and turn them into timeless memories. Every place I visit, every city I walk through, I make it a point to connect with local photographers. It’s more than just capturing images—it’s about storytelling, forming new friendships, and seeing the world through someone else's lens. These photographers, deeply passionate about their craft, remind me of the power of visual storytelling. Their ability to frame a moment, to find beauty in everyday life, and to evoke emotion through a single shot is something I deeply admire.
Beyond just taking pictures, I see photography as a bridge to different cultures and perspectives. The conversations I have with local photographers, the shared experiences, and the creative energy exchanged make each shoot a unique collaboration. Through their lenses, I get to see a place in a way I wouldn’t have on my own. It’s a reminder that photography is not just about images—it’s about connection, emotion, and storytelling.
My love for photography intertwines with another passion of mine—fashion and design. Fashion has been an integral part of my life, a love inherited from my grandmother and my mother, who exuded effortless elegance and class. Their ability to express themselves through clothing, to carry themselves with confidence, and to embrace style as an extension of their personalities left a lasting impression on me.
Even during the most demanding academic years—whether at Detroit Mercy studying Health Services Administration or during my intense MAIR program at Johns Hopkins University—fashion was my escape. Amidst the challenges of studying complex subjects, fashion provided a creative outlet, a form of self-expression that brought me joy and balance. No matter how overwhelming my workload was, I always made time for beauty, design, and style because it reminded me of who I was beyond my studies.
Fashion is more than just clothing; it’s an art form, a statement, and an ever-evolving means of self-expression. I’ve always dreamed of immersing myself in it fully—attending fashion shows across the world, meeting designers, experiencing the creative pulse of the industry firsthand. Perhaps one day, I’ll gather the courage to step into that world more intentionally, to contribute in my own way, to celebrate and support the creativity that fashion embodies.
